Journey To Water
In my series, Journey to Water, I pay homage to African American quilt-making traditions. Historically used as a form of storytelling and a coded map to freedom during the Underground Railroad, quilts became a powerful symbol of protection in my work. This series was born from my own struggle with sleeplessness. I began to imagine ceramic quilts as sources of peace, restoration, and spiritual shelter.

Finding My Log Cabin, 2026
Journey To Water tells the story of a woman struggling to get rest. She struggles to enter the liminal space of the unconscious, the space of sleep. Her journey towards rest symbolizes her journey towards water. Water is a metaphor for the unconscious, for peace, and for safety. Through the connection and protection of her ancestors, we watch as she gains the courage to confront her fears and enter this sacred path towards wholeness.
